Dia-Pak Travel Cases
Dia-Pak travel cases keep insulin refrigerated for hours even away from
home and carry most supplies. Choose from three different models: the Deluxe,
the Classic, and the DayMate. The Deluxe design will hold up to 2 weeks' worth

the DayMate holds syringes and any pen system. Each case comes with

LifeDop L250 ABI
The LifeDop by Summit Doppler offers clinicians an efficient way to test
for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a common condition in people with
diabetes, and to document blood flow. Primary care providers may see patients
who feel fine and show few or no symptoms but whose risk factors warrant
screening. The handheld Doppler device has an extra-sensitive PAD detection
system that uses the ankle brachial index. After testing, the LifeDop will
print out the results in 10 seconds on its portable, rechargeable printer.
Battery life is displayed on the monitor. Summit Doppler Systems, Inc., 4620
Technology Dr., Suite 100, Golden, Colo. 80403. 1-800-554-5090.

Cholestech LDX and GDX Systems
The Cholestech LDX system eliminates the need for lengthy laboratory
testing for lipid profile, glucose level, and alanine aminotransferase.
Collect a small blood sample from the fingertip and insert the disposable
cassette into the device. Results will be ready in 5 minutes, allowing time
for a face-to-face discussion with patients about their risk for diabetes and
heart disease. Cholestech's GDX system uses a single drop of blood in a
disposable test cartridge and takes 5 minutes to generate lab-accurate
glycated hemoglobin (A1C) results. Cholestech Corporation, 3347 Investment
Blvd., Hayward, Calif. 94545. 1-800-733-0404.

HL200 Electronic Stethoscope
Tiba Medical's HL200 electronic stethoscope gives health care providers a
new way to test for heart and lung conditions. It delivers clearer and cleaner
acoustics than a standard stethoscope to help better detect early signs of
pathology. Because of its amplification, it is especially beneficial for
people who work in high-noise areas such as the emergency room or those who
have some hearing loss. The battery should last up to 120 hours and has an
automatic shutoff after 3 minutes. Tiba Medical, Inc., 2701 N.W. Vaughn,
Portland, Ore. 97210. 1-800-985-8422.

EZ-Lance
Palco Labs has redesigned the EZ-Lance safety lancet device. It now has an
easily removable, extra-large lancet tab. The EZ-Lance also has a thumb-shaped
depression for comfortable triggering. The device protects against
cross-contamination because it cannot be used more than once, and a
safety-indicator shows if the device has already been used. Palco Labs, Inc.,
8030 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz, Calif. 95062. 1-800-346-4488.

BioSafe Anemia Test
Anemia is a common complication of diabetes. BioSafe Medical Technologies
now offers the first disposable blood test for anemia detection approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The test can be used in the
clinician's office or by patients at home and produces an instant result that
is as accurate as a standard laboratory test. BioSafe Laboratories, Inc., 8600
West Catalpa, Chicago, Ill. 60656. 1-888-700-8378.
