Omron Healthcare's VP-1000 is designed for use in primary care settings for
early, noninvasive detection and monitoring of peripheral arterial disease.

Diaton Tonometer
The Diaton from BiCOM was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration to detect early signs of glaucoma by measuring the intraocular
pressure through the eyelid. It requires no contact with the cornea, no
anesthesia, and no sterilization. The Diaton is a portable pen-like device for
use in a primary care physician's office. To use, place the tonometer's tip
vertically to the fully reclined patient's upper lid. A built-in sound
indicator will ensure accurate positioning and measurement, turning off when
the device is in the correct position. The results will appear on the screen
and are preserved for 30 seconds. BiCOM, Inc., 151 E. Walnut St., Long Beach,
N.Y. 11561. 877-342-8667.

InsuCalc Insulin Dosage Wheel
The InsuCalc wheel is a portable and accurate premeal insulin bolus dosage
calculator designed to help diabetic patients maintain blood glucose levels.
To use, one determines the grams of carbohydrate in a meal and finds the range
on the outer edge of the wheel that contains this number, turning the wheel to
align the open wedge with this carbohydrate range. Then the patient determines
his or her blood glucose level and finds the range in which this number falls
on the scale. A suggested insulin dosage for that meal appears next to the
blood glucose range. The wheels are available in 12 different combinations of
insulin to accommodate the needs of most individuals with type 1 and type 2
diabetes on multiple injection regimens. A table of carbohydrate values and
directions for use are on the back of each wheel. Each box of InsuCalc wheels
contains product instructions for health care providers, English language
instruction sheets, and clear carrying bags for each wheel. InsuCalc, 174 F
St., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. Email:
