The American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) has unveiled a consumer education program to help people with diabetes understand and participate in self-care. The program was introduced at AADE's annual meeting, held August 1–4 in St. Louis.
Side by Side: A Partner Approach to Diabetes Self-Care emphasizes that self-care doesn't mean going it alone. The educational materials highlight the importance of diabetes educators, physicians, and other health professionals involved in patients' efforts to manage their condition. The program is funded by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.
