INCORRECT INSULIN INJECTION DEPICTION

The picture accompanying the article "PCPs Lack Consensus on Insulin Therapy" (DOC News, August 2007, page 8) shows the incorrect site for injection of insulin in the arm. It depicts the patient giving the shot in his bicep.

Insulin should not be given intramuscularly, and if given in the arms should be given subcutaneously in the back of the arms.

Patients often need to start insulin sooner rather than later, but correctly. Otherwise it was a good article.
